U.S. Olympic Swimmers Pulled From Plane

U.S. Olympic swimmers Gunnar Bentz and Jack Conger – who claim they were with robbed at gunpoint in Rio de Janeiro along with Ryan Lochte Sunday – were pulled from an aircraft Wednesday. Lochte had already departed the country and is now back in the U.S.

The city’s chief of tourist police, Detective Alexandra Braga, said the swimmers’ passports had been temporarily confiscated until authorities could further investigate the authenticity of their story. Recently-surfaced surveillance footage seems to contradict the swimmers’ accounts of that night.

If police believe the men gave false information to authorities, they could face up to six months in jail.
