U.S. Airlines, Airports Prepare for Snowstorm This Weekend

With a heavy snowstorm expected to hit the mid-Atlantic and Northeast regions of the U.S. starting Friday and continuing on through Saturday, domestic airlines and airports are taking steps to prepare. United Airlines spokeswoman Maddie Kings said, “We want to give our customers plenty of time to make decisions about their travel plans.”

The carrier will reportedly waive its change fee for flights departing on or before Jan. 20-27, as long as flyers travel in the same class they originally paid for and have not changed their destination(s). Other carriers, like Delta Air Lines, are providing travelers with refunds if their flights are delayed or canceled entirely.
