TSA Seeks New Homes for Flunked Sniffer Dogs

The Transportation Security Administration is seeking forever homes for dogs that, for one reason or another, flunked qualification to serve as security dogs at airports. The dogs are generally between the ages of two and 10 years old, and common breeds include German Shorthaired Pointers, Labrador Retrievers, German Shepherds and Belgian Malinois. They were initially chosen as potential TSA bomb-sniffing dogs due to high energy levels and strong drive, and all dogs are neutered or spayed and available to adopt for free. If you have an interest in adopting a TSA dog, you will currently need to travel to San Antonio, Tex. to bring them home. (Look at those faces. You know you want a German Shepherd who flunked TSA certification.) To learn more, please email the TSA adoption coordinator at [email protected].

So all the publicity and encouragement for folks to not give away dogs "free of charge" was lost on the TSA. Great :/
