Today In Unique News: What It’s Like to Date a 737-800

Love knows no boundaries and for Berliner Michele Köbke, not even the skies can keep her away from the love of her life: a Boeing 737-800 jet. Köbke first felt attracted to the craft – which she describes as “elegant” – back in 2014, but admits their relationship can sometimes be a bit “difficult”.

It’s said that love knows no boundaries and for one woman, not even the skies can keep her away from the object of her desire – a feat which is especially difficult, given that her affections are lavished upon a Boeing 737 airliner. On a recent episode of EXTREME LOVE titled “My Boyfriend is an Aeroplane,” 29-year-old objectophile Berliner Michele Köbke shared her love with a 737-800 plane – which she calls “schatz” or “darling” – since her very first flight back in 2014. “I got so excited with boarding the plane, I realized I am in love with the 737-800,” she recalled.

Explaining the appeal, Köbke said, “The 737-800 is very attractive and sexy to me… Because of his anatomy, he’s the most beautifully built, and he’s a very attractive and elegant aircraft.” However, she adds that “A relationship with a plane is not easy and at times difficult. I can only get close to him when I fly with him or when I can get to him in the hangar.” To bridge the gap, Köbke sleeps with a model of her winged boyfriend that includes parts from a full-sized 737-800. She also sleeps with a small part of a full-sized 737-800’s winglet and keeps other parts around the house.

Köbke seems to be in love with all 737-800s collectively and has flown “a number of times” on her favorite airplane and, on May 1st, 2019, she was allowed to “spend time one on one” with a KLM 737-800 in the hangar. She got her second opportunity on her Extreme Love episode when she had a date with another 737-800, this time an SAS in a hangar at Stockholm airport.

Frederick, the Airport Visitor Service staff member escorting her on her date, and the other airport staff helping Köbke have an in-person moment, were surprisingly cool about the unusual situation. When asked what they thought about Köbke’s affections, they simply said, “It’s a bit rare, but nice, why not?”

Comparing her feelings to that of a conventional relationship, she was quoted as saying, “I want to marry my sweetheart and live with him in a hangar – it’s just a special kind of love that doesn’t hurt anybody. I wish it was more accepted in society, there are always people who don’t accept it.”

“I’m simply different and I stand for my love to my 737,” she added.

I've slept with many Airbus 330's, Boeing 767's and Boeing 777's. I didn't love any of them but we did spent some nights together. I hope they don't know about each other.
