The Next International Centurion Lounge to Open at London Heathrow Airport

The Centurion Lounges are known for their premium services, such as manicures and massages, fine cuisine and a full bar. They’re also known for their limited locations, which is changing rapidly.

American Express has been adding signature lounge locations to airports located primarily in the United States, but the newest lounge has been announced to open at London’s Heathrow Airport.

The first Centurion Lounge in Europe is scheduled to open sometime in 2019. The 7,000-square-foot space will be located in Heathrow’s Terminal 3, which serves oneworld giants American Airlines, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Finnair, Iberia and Qantas as well as SkyTeam partners Delta Air Lines and Virgin Atlantic.

“So far this year among premium U.S. Card Members alone, we’ve seen a 15% increase in travel through Heathrow compared to last year,” Chris Cracchiolo, American Express’s senior vice president for Global Loyalty & Benefits, told USA Today. “We’re excited that our second Centurion Lounge outside of the U.S. and first location in Europe will be in the UK.”

As per usual terms, The Platinum Card and the American Express Centurion Card members will be able to access the airport club with up to two guests per cardholder, whether they’re family members or not, at no extra cost.

Other Centurion Lounge locations are located at the following U.S. airports: Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, San Francisco International Airport, Las Vegas McCarran International Airport, Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, Houston George Bush Intercontinental Airport, Miami International Airport, Philadelphia International Airport and LaGuardia Airport.

The only other international Centurion Lounge is located at Hong Kong International Airport.

In addition to Heathrow Airport, American Express has confirmed Centurion Lounges to be constructed at airports in Charlotte, Denver, Los Angeles and New York City (JFK) with Phoenix being the next possible location.

Good news. However, please read your copy when selecting a photo to head the story. The location is Terminal 3, but you head the story with a photo of Terminal 5.
