The Most Leg Room in Coach (At Least in the US)

JetBlue has revealed that its Airbus A320 planes now have the widest, most comfortable coach seats of any U.S. airline. The announcement comes as part of a long-anticipated refresh that sees a host of other enhancements to its A320 fleet, including improved in-flight entertainment options and Wi-Fi.

Thanks to a long-awaited revamp of the cabin interiors of its Airbus A320 aircraft, JetBlue can now lay claim to having the widest – and hopefully, the most comfortable – coach seats of any U.S. carrier.

In a statement, the airline said that this refresh has taken several years to complete. According to Marty St. George, the carrier’s executive vice president and chief commercial officer, “JetBlue rocked the airline industry in 2000 with seatback television and all leather seats. In our first makeover since, this incredible new onboard experience represents what the founders would have done if they were launching JetBlue today.”

Throughout 2019, the airline will continue to fit its A320s with Collins Meridian seats, all of which have a width of 18”. JetBlue states that these are “the widest available for the A320” and that they will offer “the most legroom in coach of any U.S. airline”. In addition to featuring plush cushioning and adjustable headrests as well as refreshed storage space, these seats also have contoured seatbacks and two power outlets per seat.

Offering her comments on JetBlue’s revamp, Cynthia A. Muklevicz, vice president, account management, interiors for Collins Aerospace, said, “We are proud to partner with JetBlue on its A320 restyling project by supplying our Meridian Seat. Meridian offers passengers industry-leading comfort and living space through an intense focus on ergonomic design supported by optimization of the underlying seat structure.”

While these wider seats are a notable part of the airline’s cabin refresh, this revamp will also see JetBlue enhance its in-flight entertainment options and expand the coverage of its onboard Wi-Fi network.
