The Business Class Lounge Voted Best in the United States

The Business Class Lounge Voted Best in the United States
Scott Dylan

Business lounges are big business at airports across the country. However, only one business-class lounge has been ranked as the best in the United States. That lounge is the United Polaris lounge at Chicago O’Hare International Airport.

The honor was given to this lounge by the Skytrax 2018 World Airline Awards after more than 20 million airline customers from across the globe placed their votes. Skytrax has been honoring the best of the airline world through the World Airline Awards since 1999.

What is it that makes the United Polaris business-class lounge at O’Hare so amazing? This lounge has achieved the balance of luxury and functionality that business travelers are looking for when they’re darting back and forth between airports.

All of the practical details that are important to business travelers are taken care of at Chicago’s Polaris lounge. Polaris guests can charge their devices or connect to free high-speed Wi-Fi if they have work on their minds. There are also custom scents, carefully curated music selections and calculated lighting.

The lounge also features work tables and dining tables that make it easy to stay focused and keep the momentum going. Guests can also unplug from work for a bit to sit down for a gourmet meal or get cozy in a relaxing chair.

Just how relaxing is the Polaris lounge inside O’Hare? The lounge features plush daybeds that are draped in pillows and blankets from Saks Fifth Avenue. There are also shower suites that offer spa-like quality. Of course, the comfort food offered at this lounge may just be the most comforting thing of all.

Visitors who are in a rush can simply grab items from the lounge’s buffet. There is also the option to sit down for a full meal in the lounge’s private dining space. Drinks are no joke at the Polaris lounge in Chicago. Travelers can browse a drink menu that features craft cocktails, beers and wines that are as good as or better than anything they’d find at top bars around the world.

What does it take to get inside a lounge that has been voted the best of the best? The award-winning United Polaris lounge at Chicago O’Hare International Airport is open to customers traveling using United Polaris business-class tickets or first-class tickets on long-haul international flights. Access is also open to customers flying on select long-haul international flights that are operated by Star Alliance partner airlines.

If it is voted “Best in the US” the votes come from people who haven’t experienced better. Compared to the United Club, it is better. Compared to great lounges like SWISS in Zurich or CX in Hong Kong, it is terrible. Compared to what American Express does, it is simply mediocre. People have to understand, United Airlines has no conception of great service. It’s not in their DNA.

Best in the United States = “least worst”

Don’t get me wrong, it’s ok, but miles away from being good – think TK @ IST

I did not realize that Hong Kong had been annexed by the United States. Good to know an island near China now counts as the US. Also good to know that lounges that are expressly *not* business lounges are to be included in a poll of best business lounges.

Add in that “best in the US” means “compared to the rest of the globe”. Or maybe the rest of the flat earth.

Reading comprehension is a sadly underutilized skill these days.

CX lounges in HKG are pretty nice, especially FC.

The Istanbul lounge may be impressive to see, but its wifi is so bad it is useless. That drops it off any list of good lounges.

That United has the best of anything is news to me.

This was voted the Best “BUSINESS CLASS” Airline in the US.

AMEX loungers are not business class lounges
Lounges in other countries are NOT in the US
