For passengers flying to Hawaii, there’s good news and bad news.
The good news is that United Airlines is expanding its flights to Hawaii. Those new routes will start at the end of this summer beginning with 6 to 7 more flights between Los Angeles and Maui (Kahului) on August 21, daily direct flights between Los Angeles and Kona on February 14th and flights from San Francisco to Kona or Maui beginning on March 9th.
The bad news is that those flights will largely be on the new, notoriously cramped 737 Max 9 planes with tiny bathrooms and tight seating.
Which makes choosing Hawaiian Airlines’ slightly roomier planes (A321neos) that offer Extra Comfort seat options for passengers who want a little more room kind of a no-brainer if you have the option.
