Thai Dreamliner Seats Inhospitable for Larger Passengers

On the heels of the Thai press reporting that Thai Airways has banned fat people from flying aboard its Dreamliners, Flight Lieutenant Pratthana Pattanasirim has confirmed that passengers with waists wider than 56 inches and passengers with children on their laps will be unable to fly business class on its Boeing 787-9s. This is allegedly due to the new airbags and seat belts installed in the aircraft that will not accommodate larger passengers.

However the seat belt extender still works. They just disable the airbag. Not sure how this is some new issue unless I'm missing something. Also this is likely to lead to LAWSUIT. First person that complains about being denied seat who has a medical condition will become rich most likely.

This story is overblown - many airlines are installing these seat belts in business class. They are shorter and heavier, thus won't fit people over a certain waist size. Cathay Pacific has similar seat belts...

That's pretty lame. However, what airline IS hospitable for large passengers. Whether in cattle class or in First Class, seatbelts are somewhat snug for me.
