SW Pax: Staff Did Nothing About My Masturbating Seatmate
Southwest Airlines passenger Elly Shariat claims that when her seatmate aboard a Southwest Airlines flight began openly masturbating during a flight, Southwest Airlines did nothing about the incident when Shariat reached out the airline representatives after purchasing in-flight Wi-Fi specifically for that purpose.
Uhh @SouthwestAir we have an issue. I’ve spent this entire flight sitting next to a guy who has his iPad open on the tray table, watching porn, WITHOUT using headphones or anything, and twice now his body has started shaking in the throes of his orgasmic bliss. I’m so disgusted. pic.twitter.com/3an0ukXXyt

OMG he just handed his 💦 filled napkins to the flight attendant to throw away. There’s no way your staff working on this flight haven’t witnessed what’s been happening.

For everyone following the tweets about my sexual assault aboard @SouthwestAir today, THIS IS SOUTHWEST’S RESPONSE:
“… especially since you feel we should have done more to address this situation.” OMFG @CNN @BrookeBCNN halp!! pic.twitter.com/tqab8qnYv8— the real elly-ice™ (@shariatPR) May 29, 2018

Whatever happened to "See something. Say something"?
Why would she put up with it for 5 hours? She should have complained loudly to the crew, loud enough for OTHER passengers to hear. If she had, I am sure someone would have put a stopped to it. This story doesn't make sense. It sounds like she wants $$$ from Southwest for something that could have been stopped early in the flight
IMHO, she lost all credibility with the comment “He doesn’t even have a nice 🍆. It’s tiny AF.” This makes the incident sound like a joke. Also, if the guy wasn’t touching her, I take issue with calling it “sexual assault” - it’s harassment, at worst. Did she even ask him to stop (or approach a crew member about it), or just silently tweet about it from her seat and expect someone on board to notice? I’m certainly not saying this behavior wasn’t inappropriate, but blowing these incidents out of proportion trivializes the more serious ones.
If she didn't say anything to the on-board staff, what was she expecting a remote "airline representative" to do?
