“Strange Odor” on American Airlines Flight Sends Four to Hospital

Three crew members and one passenger were removed from an American Airlines flight 1719 out of Boston, Massachusetts and taken to a local hospital for evaluation after a “strange odor” forced the plane to return to the airport gate.

American Airlines representatives say that the odor was due to a “mechanical issue” and that the jet has now been taken out of service. The remaining passengers were re-routed after several hours’ delay.

Funny how it is mostly the crew that get transported to the hospital for these events. Sounds like a workers comp case, or the union telling them to go to the hospital.

Sounds like another 'toxic fume event' where poisonous oil from the engine system got into the interior cabin ventilation system.
