Spirit Celebrates New Program & Card with Virtual Concert

Spirit Celebrates New Program & Card with Virtual Concert
Joe Cortez

To celebrate the launch of their new loyalty program and credit card, Spirit Airlines will showcase their latest partnership with a concert on the runway. Country music star Brett Young will perform his hits both aboard a Spirit aircraft, then transitioning to the runway of Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport as traffic flies by.

Spirit Airlines has always worked hard to differentiate themselves from the crowd. From their previous campaigns poking fun at pop culture phenomena, to their now-famous all yellow aircraft with black print, it’s hard to miss an announcement Spirit makes.

To announce the launch of their new Free Spirit program and re-launched Mastercard products, the airline is going all out with country music star Brett Young. The airline will host a free hour-long concert live from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) on Thursday, Feb. 4, 2021, starting at 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time.

Concert Coincides with Product Launches, Giveaways, Charity Donation and Sweepstakes

The hour-long concert will start aboard a specially-wrapped Spirit aircraft, before taking over one of the runways at FLL. The airline claims it is the first ever concert to be performed at the airfield, and promises aircraft traffic speeding past. In addition, every Free Spirit member who attends the virtual concert online will be given 100 bonus points towards a future flight.

“We know a lot of our Guests miss going to concerts,” Bobby Schroeter, Spirit senior vice president and chief marketing officer, said in a press release. “Inviting Brett Young to play at the airport is our way of bringing them that experience. We’re giving everyone who attends the concert 100 Free Spirit points to show them how quickly their points add up and how easy it is to redeem them, which they can do for every fare on every flight.”

In addition to the concert and points, the concert also serves as the launch for a future giveaway featuring Young. The Miami-based airline will also donate 100,000 Free Spirit points to a charity supported by Young, myLIFEspeaks. The organization focuses on family empowerment, education, public health and special needs advocacy in Haiti.

Concert Celebration Caps Season of Change for Spirit

The concert marks a long season of change for Spirit Airlines, which started in 2019. In addition to launching the new two-level elite program, the company rebranded their $9 fare club to the Spirit Saver$ Club, offering additional discounts for subscribers beyond low airfare.
