A technician employed by low-cost domestic Indian carrier SpiceJet has been killed while repairing one of the airline’s craft, AP reports. The incident occurred on Tuesday night at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport (CCU).

The worker, who has not yet been publicly named, died after flaps which covered the landing gear of a Bombardier Q400 craft suddenly closed. The closed hydraulic doors were then broken apart to try and rescue the technician, but the employee was pronounced dead.

SpiceJet has confirmed the incident and the news agency has said that both local police and the carrier are in the process of investigating this accident.
