Dreaming of a White Christmas in Germany – or a sunny holiday in America? FlyerTalkers are making their Christmas plans now thanks to an extremely low fare from Europe to the United States, and a similar steal for those heading east for the Christmas Markets.
If your idea of a holiday getaway consists of German Christmas markets (or Weihnachtsmarkt), it might be good to start your shopping now. FlyerTalkers shoppen and notiflyr found good deals on premium cabin airfare just in time for the holidays.
The best deals are found traveling from Europe to the United States. In business class, a return trip from Frankfurt to San Francisco between Dec. 24 and Jan. 1, 2020, can be found for as little as $1,524. Other discounted destinations outbound from Germany include San Jose International Airport (SJC), Orlando International Airport (MCO), Las Vegas McCarren International Airport (LAS), and Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport (DFW).
When we tried those fares in reverse over the same dates, we didn’t find as low of deals, but there were still good prices to be found on oneworld carriers. Flying from Denver International Airport (DEN) to Frankfurt Airport (FRA), flyers could get a business class seat for $2,371 round trip aboard American Airlines. The same price roughly applies to round trips departing from San Francisco International Airport (SFO), Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL). At other airports on the list, including Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX) and Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL), you can still get deals under $3,000, but they may be aboard other carriers.
According to Google Flights, the fares are unusually low for the time and the holiday season. At some deeply discounted airports, the price is over $1,100 lower than the typical price. The fares appear bookable via Google Flights or online travel agencies, but may require a minimum seven-day stay.
For those considering taking the jump on the discounted fare, FlyerTalkers suggest staying at either the Jumeirah Frankfurt or the Steigenberger Frankfurter Hof. While the Steigenberger Frankfurter Hof is an older hotel with a classic charm, the Jumeirah Frankfurt is a newer hotel blending modern décor with German architecture. Both hotels are located central to many attractions.
