Southwest Flight Attendants Plan Contract Vote for October
Members of the flight attendants’ union of Southwest Airlines announced Friday that the group had agreed to submit a vote in October in its ongoing dispute with the carrier over new contracts. Both the flight attendants’ union and pilots’ union have engaged in years-long negotiations with Southwest to agree on terms for new contracts in light of the carrier’s record profits in recent years. A previous tentative deal was offered in 2015, but the flight attendants’ union agreed with 87 percent of the vote to reject it.
Flight attendants rejected a previous tentative agreement in 2015, with 87 percent of votes cast against the deal.
