Southwest Airlines Nixes Basic Economy Seating

On Thursday, Gary Kelly, CEO of Southwest Airlines CEO, informed investors that the airline would not be offering a Basic Economy seating – an option many of the carrier’s rivals have offered in recent years in an effort to compete with low-cost carriers.

“There is a huge value in offering all of our customers – 100% of them – a great product […] We like to say at Southwest, there is no second class,” Kelly said.

LOL - without the ability to reserve seats in advance, I already consider to be in the Basic Economy category - nothing but WN semantics.
