Southwest Adds Steamboat Springs as a Seasonal Route

Steamboat Springs

Popular ski destination, Steamboat Springs, is welcoming a new airline to its slopes – Southwest. The carrier will begin seasonal service to the Colorado town at the end of 2020, offering daily flights from Denver.

Short, Easy Flight from Denver

The airline has not released details about the exact schedule or fares of the seasonal route, but we do know that it will be a daily service operating between Denver International Airport (DEN) and Yampa Valley Regional Airport (HDN), which is about 25 miles from the state’s fifth-largest ski area, Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation. Southwest will compete with United Airlines on the route, who currently operates the only nonstop from Denver to the Steamboat slopes.

Southwest’s VP of Network Planning, Adam Decaire, said in a statement, “Whether you’re a skier, snowboarder, or just enjoy a winter wonderland, Steamboat Springs has something for everyone, and now you’ll be able to reach the region on Southwest with a short, easy flight from Denver. He continued, “We’re looking forward to bringing our world-famous hospitality paired with Customer-friendly policies like skis and snowboards fly free closer to the slopes of the Rocky Mountains later this year.”

Rob Perlman, President and Chief Operating Officer of Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation, said, “What an ideal partner to bring more skiers and riders to experience Steamboat’s famous Champagne Powder snow. Southwest’s world-renowned hospitality is perfectly aligned with Steamboat’s genuine western hospitality, and we’re excited to welcome their loyal customers to our magical mountain destination.”
