The incident occurred just days after a window was smashed on Southwest Airlines Flight 1380. The turbulence was so severe that a window panel detached from the cabin wall of Delhi-bound Air India Flight 462. Passengers were visibly shaken by the incident, with some suffering minor injuries.

Violent turbulence caused a window panel to detach from the cabin wall of a Delhi-bound Air India flight last Thursday, the Times of India reports. The incident occurred last Thursday, just two days after a window was smashed on-board Southwest Airlines Flight 1380, leading to the death of passenger Jennifer Riordan.

The outlet reports that Air India Flight 462, a Boeing 787 Dreamliner, was subjected to a very rough take-off, with the turbulence buffeting the craft during its initial ascent from Amritsar.

The Sun reports that many of the 240 passengers on the flight were visibly shaken and upset by the incident. The turbulence was so severe that it reportedly caused some of the plane’s in-cabin oxygen masks to deploy.

An unnamed source told the outlet, “The turbulence on AI 462 was such that the head of a seated passenger, who possibly did not have his seat belt fastened, hit the overhead cabin because of a bump. The person suffered injuries. Two more had minor injuries.”

“The inside of a window panel (18-A) came off. The outside window did not break and there was no de-pressurization. Passengers were naturally terrified,” the source added.

It has been reported that the carrier, as well as India’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), is investigating the incident.

Commenting on the incident, a senior Air India official told the outlet, “Our emergency response and angels took care of the three injured passengers who were taken to a hospital on landing in Delhi. The passenger whose head hit the overhead panel got stitches. Two passengers suffered minor injuries. They are all fine and took their connecting flights after getting the first aid.”

Agreed that the headline is very misleading. Very frequently the headlines and stories in this articles section seem like things posted just to fill up space, and along the lines of amateurish websites that have no quality control in the content, etc. I would hope FlyerTalk would up their professionalism a bit more and not allow articles to be posted merely to fill up space, resulting in misleading and/or meaningless posts.

Talk about apples and oranges and being misleading

So a piece of plastic fell off because of heavy turbulence? This is the top front-page story? With a ridiculous click-bait title to boot. Also, I don't think that's what a 787 looks like.
