In Brief: Seattle-Tacoma International Airport Sees Growth in Passenger Traffic

This year, passenger traffic at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) could increase by more than 8 million in comparison to 2013.

Last year, the airport was considered one of the fastest-growing airports in the U.S. by The News Tribune of Tacoma, and new data from the local news outlet claims traffic is increasing at three times the rate of what Alaska Airlines – the airline with the largest amount of passenger traffic at the airport – planners had expected.

The airport’s $1.9 billion renovations have helped increase the traffic and airport spokesman Perry Cooper said the growth can also be attributed to the recent boom in the area’s economy.
