City of Derry Airport (LDY) has confirmed that low-cost carrier Ryanair will be canceling its routes from LDY to all London airports, as well as all Faro routes, effective April 2017. John Kelpie, Chief Executive of Derry City and Strabane District Council, confirmed that LDY was in discussions with Ryanair about twice-daily routes to London.

Roy Devine, Chairman of City of Derry Operations Ltd, described this development as “disappointing news.”

Ryanair has issued a statement claiming that its summer schedule for Derry in 2017 has not yet been finalized.
