Robot Falcon to Debut at German Airport

Robird, a robotic bird produced by the University of Twente, is set to make its first flight at Germany’s Weeze Airport in February. The realistic-looking falcon simulacrum was developed by Clear Flight Solutions, a subgroup of the University of Twente, and was created in order to scare away birds at airports and waste processing plants, preventing damage to both aviation equipment and the birds themselves. “Finally, this is a historic step for the Robird and our company,” said Clear Flight Solutions CEO Nico Nijenhuis. “We already fly our Robirds and drones at many locations, and doing this at an airport for the first time is really significant.”
