Qantas Turns 100 With a New Safety Video

Qantas 100

Qantas is celebrating 100 years of service this year. Although the airline’s birthday is not until November, they have already started the celebration with a special aircraft livery and a new safety demo video.

New Livery

Qantas has rolled out a special aircraft livery for its 100th birthday, which features the company’s different logos since its launch in 1920 and the “Qantas 100” imprint. The 787 Dreamliner is named Longreach in honor of the Queensland town where the airline was born. CEO Alan Joyce said, “The story of Qantas is the story of modern Australia, and the logos on this livery tell that story from the beginning. Our Centenary celebrations are all about honoring our past with an eye on the future, so it’s very fitting that this special livery will be worn by our newest state-of-the-art Dreamliner.”

Safety Video

In addition to the special livery, Qantas has also released a new safety video that covers its 100-year history, from the company’s first flights to the modern era in which it is still thriving. The video features Qantas aircraft through the decades, employees sporting old life jackets and former flight attendant uniforms, and a recreation of the 1970s 747 upper deck lounge. The video is eight minutes long and will begin showing on aircraft on March 1st.

I love the old planes and especially the groovy upperdeck. Probably one of the best safety videos out there from an aviation geek point of view.

Wow...excellent job! A delight to watch, and will hopefully still be as interesting watching it for the tenth time, as the first... feels like it will be.
