Priceline Credit Card Adds “PricePoints” to Loyalty Program

Priceline credit card holders can now earn redeemable PricePoints on all bookings through the online travel agency – even when using points for a future trip.
For travelers looking for an alternative savings avenue from loyalty programs, a new benefit to the Priceline VIP Rewards Visa card could help cut costs ahead of the holiday season.

The online travel agency and Barclays US announced a new benefit for the card, called “PricePoints,” allowing cardholders to earn redeemable points every time they book a trip on Priceline.

Points Acquire on All Priceline Transactions – Including Redemptions

Under the current program, cardholders earn 5X points for every $1 spent on Priceline bookings, 2X points for every $1 spent on gas and restaurant purchases (including delivery services), and one point for every $1 spent on all other purchases. With the addition of PricePoints, using the Priceline VIP Rewards Visa can earn even more points when on the site.

In addition to earning 5X points on purchases through Priceline.com, travelers can also earn points on their rewards redemptions. At the time of purchase, cardholders may select “Redeem Points,” and select the number of points they want to use at a rate of one cent per point. Although their card will be charged for the full amount at checkout, it will come off as a statement credit within three to five business days.

In turn, travelers will still earn 5X points per $1 spent on their Priceline travel – even if they chose to use their points. For example: If a cardholder used 50,000 points to fully cover a $500 hotel stay, they would earn 2,500 points to use towards a future trip.

“With PricePoints, we are bringing this vision to life through a game-changing credit card program that allows travelers to earn 5x points on all Priceline travel, even when redeeming points at the time of booking,” Denise Bialek, senior director of ancillary products at Priceline, said in a press release. “PricePoints allows travelers to earn and redeem their rewards more rapidly with one of the richest point systems in the online travel industry.”

Additional Credit Card Rewards Augments Loyalty Program Changes

The new addition to the Priceline VIP Rewards Visa card is the latest change to the online travel agency’s rewards program. In June 2022, the company announced the addition of VIP Family, a pooling tool allowing groups of three to manage and use their points together for future trips.
