Pilot Turns Flight Around Due to Elderly Couple’s Dying Grandson

An Etihad flight departing last month from Manchester Airport (MAN) was allegedly turned around while taxiing to the runway after the pilot was made aware of two passengers aboard the flight who needed to say goodbye to a dying grandson. Becky Stephenson, the elderly couple’s travel agent, reported on the incident.

“They were taxiing on the runway when they got the text message saying their grandson was in intensive care and they needed to get there,” Stephenson said. “They passed the message to the crew, who spoke to the captain and he turned the plane back.”
