PIA Chairman Resigns in Wake of Crash

Azam Saigol, erstwhile Chairman of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), has resigned due to personal reasons, according to a statement released less than a week after the PIA plane crash that resulted in the deaths of 47 people.

In the wake of the crash, Pakistani media coverage has focused on PIA’s safety record, and PIA has since stated that there were no pre-existing problems with the flight that caused the crash. Shares in PIA were 9.16 percent lower Tuesday at 9.95 rupees.
