AA Has Unveiled a New Livery With Their “Heritage Plane”

In the wake of the US Airlines merger, American Airlines is honoring ancestor airlines that joined with it through mergers or acquisitions, like the decommissioned Reno Air, with its new “heritage” aircraft.

The Boeing 737-800 that contains the colors of the defunct Nevada-based carrier began flying passengers Friday. American is flying five other aircraft containing the “heritage” look that pays homage to other airlines such as Piedmont Airlines and Pacific Southwest.

That's all fine and dandy but have they unveiled new and younger crew members without attitude?

"Improving their product" on just 5 planes??? Would you really be likely to notice? Did you read this article and notice this new paint job is just for 5 planes? It's a LOT more work to "imrprove" the product on ENOUGH planes for you to notice than to repaint 5 planes. Besides, it's different people who paint planes than the people who improve the product inside the planes. The product is being improved, if you happen to fly the NEWST 737-800s (but older 737-800s are NOT being retrofitted with AVOD/etc), or if you happen to fly the 787 or the 777ER. But if you're stuck on 757s and 763s and M80s, those planes are going to be phased out in a handful of years, so are not likely to get any more improvements. So to see "product improvements", you need to be aware of which planes have improved product and look for those planes when you fly, rather than ignoring plane type and just picking flights based on other criteria.

How mundane. I wish they would spend money on improving their product rather than bringing back brands they were retired decades ago...
