Phone Battery Catches Fire Aboard Delta Flight

During a Delta Air Lines flight from Norfolk to Atlanta on Friday morning, a cell phone battery caught fire about 15 minutes after takeoff, filling the cabin with smoke. Retired members of the military reportedly assisted flight attendants with dousing the fire by using a bottle of water a fire extinguisher could be used.

“It wasn’t a big flaming fire, it was more smoldering smoke,” said passenger Kristi Parrotte, and no injuries have been reported by cabin crew or passengers aboard the flight.

It has not yet been revealed what type of phone caught fire aboard the flight.
