Philly Airport Workers Vote to Strike During DNC

Workers at the Philadelphia Airport, including baggage handlers, wheelchair attendants, and airplane cleaners, voted overwhelmingly in favor of striking during the National Democratic Convention set to be held in Philadelphia, July 25-28. Workers are seeking “better scheduling, clarity on sick pay, a more predictable disciplinary system, and to be able to unionize.”

The vote was 461-5 in favor of striking out of 500 on shift yesterday. No date is set for the work-stop to begin, however, service workers union SEIU 32BJ announced it would take place during the convention.
