Passenger Sues Airline Over Seat Switch

A female passenger is suing Israeli carrier El Al, claiming the airline forced her to move seats on a December flight because of her gender. Renee Rabinowitz, 81, says the male passenger that took her place cites an interpretation from the Torah that forbids contact between unrelated men and women as a reason for the switch.

“This is behavior that systematically harms women’s dignity, and action must be taken so incidents like this don’t reoccur,” Rabinowitz said.
