Well, Trip Reports are about to get a lot more exciting.
I just want to start this off by saying that Snapchat and Instagram Stories will, for the foreseeable future, be the best way to give the world an audio/visual peek into what you’re up to while you’re on vacation. But, in a world where technology moves so fast that retro is getting cool again, Fujifilm’s new Instax Mini LiPlay camera is kind of adorable?
A new upgrade on the Polaroid/instant camera resurgence, it lets you record sound on your instant photos… kind of. What it really does is embed a QR code onto the photo when you print it out from the camera which, it has to be said, isn’t technically the same thing. But, it is a pretty cool option for when you want to do something quaintly old school like send a photo in a Christmas card on which your family can hear your voice, or upload photos with audio when you don’t feel like uploading an entire video.
The promotional video suggests flirting with people by taking a photo of your face with a message asking “are you free tonight,” but that one sounds a little bit creepy. Personally, I think that these cool photos would make fun business cards or travel postcards that are a little more personal, like a shot of the cafe you visited this afternoon with the ambient sound of the lunch crowd in the background.
All in all, I think it’s pretty neat. Looking for more ideas on travel products or have a few recommendations? Head to the Travel Products forum on FlyerTalk and join the discussion.
