NOAA to Reduce Turbulence With Satellite

In an effort to reduce turbulence experienced by aircraft, the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) will implement a plan that will use a satellite to send clearer images of cloud “waves” to Earth at a rapid rate and will also give more accurate readouts of fog, ice, lightning and wind speed. These advances by the NOAA are expected to be implemented during the latter half of 2017.

A spokesperson for NOAA claims that the $1 billion satellite will scan atmospheric conditions at a rate five times faster than previous technology has allowed, and with quadrupled greater image resolution to boot.
