Nigerian Airport Used in Counter-Terrorism Exercise

Yesterday, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) commenced a counter-terrorism exercise, code-named “Exercise Thunder Bolt,” at Murtala Muhammed International Airport (LOS). The NAF claims to be prepared to counteract any incidents of terrorism at domestic airports, and the exercise saw the simulation of a hostage situation.

Air Marshal Sadiq Abubakar, Chief of Air Staff, said, “These are highly trained and skilled individuals who have been trained to protect our airports and to make sure our airports are safe from terrorism and any kind of threat.”

I was there a few weeks ago and the security officer at the metal detector asked me for a $20. The one the searched me afterwards asked me for another "gift". My companion nearly got his shoes "confiscated" because the security officer liked them.... "sage airports"? sure!
