New Spirit Look Will Definitely Get Your Attention

As part of its new brand, Spirit Airlines unveiled a “bold” new livery paint scheme on Monday.

If you’ve ever thought that Spirit Airlines offered a different kind of flying experience, you can rest assured that its new paint scheme will confirm all of your previous assumptions. Being different is exactly the message the airline wants to send with its new livery look, unveiled today at a maintenance facility in Upstate New York, according to an article from USA Today.

The “bold” yellow is designed to “get people’s attention, no question,” Spirit spokesman Paul Berry told USA Today. “We’re trying to let people know we’re a little different.”

The repainting of the livery continues Spirit’s rebranding effort, which was launched in May. With the overall message of letting passengers know what they can expect when they take advantage of the carrier’s low fares, Spirit CEO Ben Baldanza said, “Let’s not let anybody be surprised about Spirit. Let them know exactly who we are.”

Spirit said the unmistakable yellow airplane — the phrase “Home of the Bare Fare” painted in black across the engine cowlings — should clearly advertise the brand, the article noted.

From a practical standpoint, airline officials noted the simple, two-color motif offered a lower-cost paint scheme. The first yellow Airbus A319 will fly on Wednesday from Atlantic City to Fort Lauderdale, and the company hopes to have six in the air by the end of 2014. The remaining fleet will be repainted under its normal maintenance schedule.

It's horrid and anyone that tries to say it looks like Hughes Airwest should be shot. Spirit never could even touch Hughes Airwest... Spoken like the true geriatric I am !!

More evidence that Spirit is nothing more than a flying taxicab.
