New Data Shows How Your Neighbors Handle Credit

Wallet Hub recently broke down the average credit scores across the nation, according to cities to give everyone insight on just how their neighbors are handling their credit (but not whether or not they are rewards members).

And the findings aren’t terribly surprising. Generally speaking, being older and affluent as well as educated tends to mean that citizens of those communities will have higher credit scores.

Many of the top ranking high credit scores go to people living in retirement villages in popular retirement locations, i.e. Florida and Arizona.

At the lower end of the credit-score spectrum are cities that are known to have lower incomes.

Although having a low credit score doesn’t always impact your ability to get a credit card, previous research by the Federal Reserve has shown that credit scores can predict relationship stability. In other words, if you’re single and looking to couple up then you have a better chance at finding someone with a similar credit score to your own.
