New Age Wellness Technologies: Coming to a Hotel Near You?

Hotels across the country are embracing an in-room New Age wellness and balance program for guests.

Showers infused with Vitamin C, aromatherapy, dawn simulators, circadian rhythm lighting — these are just a few of the New Age wellness technologies being adopted by hotels across the country through the Stay Well program. The program, designed by Deepak Chopra, Delos Building Wellness and the Cleveland Clinic, is meant to revitalize, revive and energize guests after staying in a participating room.

So far, some MGM Resorts and Marriott International hotels in Las Vegas and Florida have signed on for the program, with a Bjarke Ingels hotel in Miami Beach expected to opt in soon.

“We have adopted an underlying philosophy that the most important health decisions are not made in a doctor’s office; rather, there are dozens of decisions individuals make daily while at work, at home, in a restaurant or in retail environments that are the most impactful drivers of quality of life or health and wellness,” Jim Zboril, president of Tavistock Development Company, told Forbes. Tavistock is a real estate firm that developed some of the properties using Stay Well rooms.

Perks for guests in participating Stay Well rooms include those mentioned above, plus air purifiers, water filtration, hypoallergenic beds, non-toxic natural foam mattresses, and light therapy mirrors.

“Stay Well guests wake up feeling refreshed and ready to take on life and the new day,” Zboril told Forbes. “[One of our properties has] only been open a few weeks, and the early response has been very encouraging.”

The usual non-scientific humbug, 'showers infused with Vitamin C'? Thanks a lot, I personally prefer friendly staff, a comfortable bed and a thorough housekeeping!
