NASA’s New Supersonic Aircraft Might Reduce Sonic Boom

In August, NASA confirmed that it will begin accepting bids for the production of a supersonic aircraft prototype that could potentially reduce the likelihood of the sonic boom normally produced when aircraft breaks the sound barrier.

The prospective supersonic aircraft “will drive the demand for broadly available faster air travel,” according to Peter Coen, NASA’s project manager for supersonic research. “That’s going to make it possible for companies to offer competitive products in the future.”
