NASA: We Can Make Plane Landings 70% Less Loud

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration claims that they have developed technology to reduce the volume of landing aircraft by up to 70%.

“This airframe noise reduction produced by NASA technology is definitely momentous, and the best part is that it directly benefits the public,” said project manager Kevin Weinert.

It's good that it may reduce fuel costs (by improving plane efficiency), as the linked article says. Otherwise airlines (always penny-pinching) would never go for it, no matter what benefit to customers or people on the ground, right?
