According to the Transportation Security Administration, a tenth firearm has been discovered during routine security screenings at Tulsa International Airport (TUL) this year. A 9mm Beretta Nano firearm, loaded with six rounds, was uncovered during a checkpoint screening Monday afternoon.

The following morning, a 9mm Glock 26 firearm loaded with 10 rounds was found in a carry-on bag at Will Rogers World Airport (OKC). Tuesday’s discovery marks the fourteenth weapon discovered in carry-on luggage in Oklahoma City this year.

The TSA alerted authorities to both cases. Police took possession of the firearms and questioned the passengers involved. Their identities have not been released, and it is unclear whether any arrests have been made. Nationwide, more than 1,070 firearms have been discovered at airport security checkpoints by TSA since the start of the year.

“Firearms and ammunition, along with firearm parts and realistic replicas, are always prohibited at the TSA security checkpoint,” said TSA spokesperson Carrie Harmon.

The aforementioned items are allowed in checked bags, but they must be declared, unloaded, and stored properly in a locked, hard-sided container. The TSA can fine passengers who bring a firearm to a security checkpoint a civil penalty of up to $11,000.
