Mobile Phone Users on Planes to Face $7,500 Fine

Passengers using mobile phones aboard flights could potentially face a fine of 50,000 yuan ($7,515 USD), according to the most recent draft amendment to China’s Civil Aviation Law published on Monday by the Civil Aviation Administration of China. The draft amendment contains a new chapter that regulates 14 different behaviors believed to endanger civil aviation safety and disturb order, including using mobile phones, smoking, forcibly occupying seats, blocking channels and gates, breaking into airports and planes, physically harming crew and other workers, fighting, spreading rumors and “causing troubles.”
