Meet the ARJ21-700, China’s First Modern Airliner

China’s first homegrown airliner has finally been approved for use by the Chinese public after more than a decade of development. The ARJ21-700, built by Comac (the government-owned aircraft manufacturer), has been designed to keep pace with Western commercial flights.

The ARJ21-700’s development had been plagued by false starts and delays. Whether the airline will live up to the hype is uncertain, but Comac is confident that the new model will handily compare to its Western commercial counterparts.
