Martinique Airport Is Expanding

While most of the news coming out of airports is bad, there’s a bit of good news coming out of Martinique Aimé Césaire Airport: they’re expanding.

Onwards and Upwards

Martinique Airport’s expansion will involve a new structure that will add over 20,000 square meters. The goal is an “efficient, optimized airport, meeting European aeronautical standards and capable of absorbing increasing traffic.”
In addition, Passenger Terminal Ten will be extended and modernized to include 10 additional check-in counters, a new boarding lounge for regional flights, and three more security filters.
The existing boarding lounge for medium and long-haul flights is also getting a 2,000 square meter extension. In that space will go to a new shopping mall, new shops, and a lounge for elite flyers.

@Devehf, you’re thinking from an American point of view but need to see the bigger picture here. Martinique is a French territory and thus the government will subsidize necessary links to the homeland offices in Paris. AirFrance and a handful carriers flies to the island. Aren’t the only flights through MIA? Sounds like he’ll until there are flights from NYC again.
