Marriott Still Needs China to Approve Starwood Deal

Marriott International said Monday that the Chinese Ministry of Commerce needs 60 more days to review its purchase of Starwood Hotels and Resorts.

“Marriott and Starwood continue to believe that their planned merger transaction poses no anti-competitive issues in China,” Marriott said.

The approval from Chinese regulators is reportedly the last hurdle for the company’s$13.6 billion deal, which has already been green-lit by 40 countries.
