Marriott Bonvoy Business American Express Card Reveals Enhanced Perks

As part of changes announced earlier this month, holders of the Marriott Bonvoy Business American Express Card can now take advantage of a range of enhanced benefits, including a room rate discount.
American Express and Marriott Bonvoy – Marriott International’s rewards program – have announced a raft of changes and enhancements to the Marriott Bonvoy Business American Express Card.

In a news release, American Express explained that these are intended to ensure that small business owners can earn travel rewards from their day-to-day expenses.  No change will be made to the card’s existing benefits and so users new and old can continue to enjoy perks such as free hotel stays, no foreign transaction fees and additional opportunities to earn Marriott Bonvoy points at participating hotels and retailers.  American Express has also confirmed that the card’s $125 annual fee will remain unchanged.

Card Enhancements Offer Additional Rewards for Small Business Owners

The enhancements to the Marriott Bonvoy Business American Express Card include a seven percent discount on room rates at eligible Marriott properties, quadruple Bonvoy points at restaurants around the globe and complimentary Gold Elite status.  A full overview of the card’s benefits and enhancements – which were announced on July 21, 2022 – can be found here.

These new benefits have been unveiled following a study by American Express.  According to data collected by the company, 82 percent of small business owners confirmed that discounted hotel rates are a factor when booking their travel arrangements.  The study further revealed that 73 percent indicated that holding status with a hospitality brand influences where they book their business travel accommodation.

Speaking of these new benefits, Courtney Kelso, Executive Vice President & General Manager of Global Commercial Card, American Express, said, “Small business owners have weathered many challenges over the past few years, pivoted their strategies, and are now looking to get back on track with how they run their business.  This includes hitting the road again for client meetings, networking, new business pitches and more. Now, these Card Members can make the most of their business and leisure travel with our enhanced Marriott Bonvoy Business Card and the ability to earn even more valuable points and rewards.

David Flueck, Senior Vice President, Global Loyalty, Marriott International, added, “The rich, new benefits will help Card Members owning and working for small businesses stretch their travel dollars much further and reward them for being a part of the engine that drives the U.S. economy.  Hard working Small Business Card Members who spend many nights traveling for business can now earn points toward vacations and getaways with family and friends even faster when staying at participating Marriott Bonvoy hotels and using their Card for everyday expenses.”

Would be nice if they actually made the Bonvoy app to work. In the last few weeks tried to make reservations 3 times. 3 times we encountered a technical error we will fix it soon.I am now booking with other hotelchains which actually have a working app.

I am Lifetime Titanium and have the $99 Chase Visa Bonvoy,  not sure if this would be better, worse or the same.  Giving away Gold status is like the Fed Printing more money.

Complimentary Gold status with a $120 card. Whats the point of the $695 Platinum or the $450 Brilliant card?

De-valuation of status just like Hilton.
