Marco Rubio Flies “Special Kind of Hell”

Republican presidential candidate Sen. Marco Rubio (Fla.) is flying the skies for cheap aboard Frontier Airlines, a budget carrier Rubio’s campaign manager isn’t crazy about.

“Marco flies 95 percent commercial,” said Terry Sullivan. “We just booked a Frontier Airlines flight today, which is a special kind of hell for anybody. But we do it because we gotta — we want to spend our money where it matters.”

Sullivan did not expand on the quote, but he’s not alone in his view on Frontier. Recent reports from the Department of Transportation show the carrier’s complaint rate was triple the norm for over a dozen U.S. carriers in July.

Penny wise, pound foolish. LCCs are for people who rarely travel. If you are booking dozens of trips per annum you are missing out on the value inherent in milking a legacy's FF program. Now, about the difference between commercial and private - yeah. Your time has to be worth many digits per hour to make it worth that.

"a special kind of hell for anybody" Pretty good description of being stuck next to Marco Rubio on a flight.

@SarcasticMisanthrope : i think that's a bit rude. P.S. I personally support Rand Paul.

Marco Rubio needs to use a raft, just like his parents did. :-)

I know he has a point, but I'd advise Rubio's campaign manager not to start sounding melodramatic about an LCC. The self-heroism at having to fly steerage sounds a bit elitist and pretty unendearing to those who don't think twice about it.
