Man Caught at Airport With 1.1kg of Cocaine in His Stomach

The 48-year-old passenger admitted to the police that he had ingested over a hundred pellets filled with cocaine.

A passenger almost managed to pass through security with over 2 pounds of cocaine after a flight from Thailand to Australia, CNN reports. The man, 48, had the cocaine stashed in his stomach and admitted to smuggling drugs shortly after arriving at Sydney Airport (SYD).

The Australian passenger had already passed baggage security check when he admitted to the police that he had ingested a large quantity of cocaine pellets. The details of the exact conversation between the man and the officers at the airport have not been released, spokeswoman for the Australian Federal Police told CNN.

After he was taken into custody, the man passed 46 pellets containing about 460 grams of cocaine (1 pound). Afterwards, the police took him to a hospital, where doctors removed another 64 pellets.

“Importing drugs internally is extremely dangerous as it can lead to serious health risks and even death,” Australian Border Force Organized Crime Branch Acting Commander Lesley Dalton said in a statement.
