No injuries were reported as a result of the incident. A flash flood warning has been issued in Los Angeles county effective until at least 10:45 a.m., and the Pacific Coast Highway was closed after large mud flows disrupted traffic.
Per LASD Reserve Officer Tommy Fakehany:

Pilot must have been trying to avoid the mud and the cars! 😉

“at Hollywood Burbank Airport (BUR) “…. “deluge of mud and debris throughout Malibu”
Malibu? You mean Los Angeles? Malibu refers to a very specific place along the coast on the other side of the Santa Monica Mountains.

What kind of faux headline is that?

I’m pretty sure a short, wet runway had a lot more to do with this than a mudslide some 40 miles away!

Flown in and out of here many times. PLANE DID NOT SKID OFF RUNWAY! Headlines make it sound as if plane uncontrollably careened off the runway. Because of weather, runway conditions (very short runway), plane was unable to stop by end of roll out and went onto the protective surface.

Per the linked article, the mud was not on the runway but off the runway where you would expect it to be. Another FT headline to challenge National Enquirer?
