11 Min. Flight Via ‘Long Penetration Mode’

Deemed the “Antipode” by its industrial designer Charles Bombardier, a new conceptual aircraft has arrived on the scene, and it can reportedly travel from London to New York in just 11 minutes. “I wanted to create an aircraft concept capable of reaching its antipode — or diametrical opposite — as fast as possible,” Bombardier said.

The aircraft, which could theoretically travel up to 12,430 miles with 10 passengers in less than an hour, is capable of pulling off such feats because it uses rocket boosters, a scramjet engine, and “long penetration mode” – an aerodynamic system that involves a nozzle on the aircraft’s nose sucking in air to cool down the plane’s surface temperature.

For an 11 minute London to New York flight how many G-forces would the passengers need to endure for acceleration and deceleration ? Is there a standard or guideline for what G-force the average person can withstand ? Thank You
