Rent Your House to Your Spouse, Earn 30,000 British Airways Miles

Are you a fan of British Airways, and also interested in creating an Airbnb space? The airline is offering a promotion for first-time Airbnb hosts that will get them 30,000 British Airways miles – as long as the total sale is more than $100. Lesser sales will earn fewer miles, prorated depending on the cost.

If you’ve been thinking about renting out your house or even just a room in your home, now might be the best time to do it. British Airways is offering a special deal for people who rent their space out for the first time.

For Airbnb sales topping the $100 mark, passengers purchasing through the British Airways shopping portal will earn 30,000 frequent flyer miles with the airline. If the total sale is less than $100, the number of miles given will be lower according to the final cost.

“Stated rewards is for when you have welcomed your first guest to stay and the stay is completed,” the airline’s shopping portal website says. “If the order total is less than $100 you will receive a lower reward. No rewards are given on Miami Hosting, The Big Island Hosting, referrals and/or active and booked listings.”

There may even be a workaround for people who don’t want to rent their home out to a stranger. Gary Leff from Boarding Area jokes about renting his place out to his wife, or his in-laws.

“What if you want to earn the miles but don’t want someone sleeping in your bed and doing goodness knows what else in your home? Maybe I shouldn’t literally list my home and have my wife rent it, we have the same last name, but her parents have a different last name. 30,000 Avios for the fees associated with a one night rental is a pretty good deal.”

As long as it’s someone with a different last name to make the sale look legit.

Looks like the offer is gone. I clicked though to the offer page, but when I clicked login it went to a “page not found” error message. Darn. I was also set to rent out my home to my wife, and have her rent out her home to me.
