JetBlue Flight Turns Around Due to Escaped Pax Dog

JetBlue passenger Gwen Wunderlich begged to be allowed to deplane her Costa Rica-bound flight after being made aware that her beloved Chow Chow, Cash, had broken free of his dog walker in New York City, leading her owners on a six-hour search.

“I told the stewardess. I got up, and she was like, ‘Are you sure? We can only turn around for emergencies,’ […] I’m like, ‘this is an emergency for me,’” said Wunderlich.

Cash was eventually found in a deli, lying down behind the counter.

ridiculous. people who think their dogs are their kids. if they are your "kids", then pay to bring them on the trip. or. don't take the trip.

Had this been a European EU Area Flight then it could have cost the Airline Tens of Thousands of Dollars in Statutory Compensation. Whoever made this asinine decision should IMHO be fired. Thankfully Costa Rica is not a connection Hub.

Why all the hostility? Some people believe their animals are part of the family. Especially in New York having a dog lost is certainly an issue I wouldn't want to deal with.

Why on earth did JetBlue accede to her demands? This does not make me want to fly JetBlue.

Yea, that's what you did I'm sure, in a calm voice check with flight attendant to see if plane can turn around because your dog is lost. Should be black listed from all carriers.
