JetBlue Delays Upgrade While Waiting for Boeing, Airbus to Cease Slapfight

JetBlue Airways is holding off on its decision to update its regional jet fleet as ongoing competition between Airbus and Boeing has left its options uncertain. Airbus’ agreement with Bombardier to use its CSeries aircraft, for example, and the potential for a Boeing deal with Embraer have introduced an unpredictable situation for the carrier.

“It’d be short-sighted of us to progress with something definitive in this landscape that’s evolving,” said Steve Priest, Chief Financial Officer for JetBlue. “If we leave money on the table because we rushed in during this changing landscape — I don’t want to get into a position where we regret any decision.”
